A first shared playtest!

Ventury is in the middle of a reset on a new engine, with the choice being Godot Engine.

The project initially started as a Roblox game, though it later grinded to a halt due to the challenges the platform imposed on development.

This is so far removed from being a truly playable game, but the framework is present. The game's inspirations are many, but its most noteworthy is easily felt during play. Hours upon hours of research have been put into making some of the game's foundations, with thousands more due of credit to the many wonderful contributors to the Godot Engine itself. You can find the list of Engine contributors here. If you feel compelled to donate to this project, don't - share your love to the Godot Foundation, it will be better spent there for the time being.

In summary, the game has save data, a functioning character controller, map scenes, actors, game objects, a room system, a skybox, a day-night cycle, a targeting system, and an inventory screen, though most of these features are still a ways out before being truly presentable to the public. The character controller itself needs a lot more work; the absence of some states like swimming or being mounted on a horse, the camera needing more tuning, and overall game feel need attention.

All of this being said, this is a fairly solid piece of study for my first year with Godot.

A friend of mine is also co-developing this game with me: Nick has been a real help in a few places, and I really appreciate the extra oomph he brings to the pace of development. Blender is not my forte!
